About

Hi, I’m Alli — a ceramicist striving to create quality, functional pieces on the potter’s wheel.

I first fell in love with clay in high school, where I studied hand-building for four years. I took a clay-sabbatical while earning my Bachelor's and Master’s degrees, and returned to the pottery studio in 2021. Since then, my focus has been on mastering the potter’s wheel while developing my personal style, and teaching others along the way. I've been a student and ceramics instructor at Mercado Art Studio in Hallandale Beach, FL since August 2022.

My work is inspired by the way ceramics channels the elemental forces of nature — earth, water, wind, and fire. I find a deep sense of centeredness at the wheel. There is a feeling in the middle of throwing on the wheel, where you're almost hypnotized, spun up with the spinning Earth. Hand movements become fluid, your shoulders soften, the outside world fades, and you're drawn into a quiet, meditative rhythm — a true flow state. From the stillness, a vessel emerges, and with it, a sense of balance that reaches beyond the clay.

Flow and Function Ceramics was born from this experience — a desire to share the quiet power of that connection with others. I hope my pieces become part of everyday rituals, grounding their owners and reconnecting them to the natural world.
